An allocation of $7million has been given to the Ministry of Agriculture to help meet the demand for machines by farmers.

During the 2022-2023 National Budget Address, Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said machines such as tractors, excavators, bull and swamp dozers and harvesters will be hired out to farmers on a 50/50 basis.

He said they will also establish para-veterinary clinics where registered para-vets will work with farmers to maintain animal welfare, health and hygiene.

“Students who have graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science can undertake a five day para vet course provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and immediately register with the ministry to establish clinics.
