LEGO News, Reviews and Builds

All five of this year’s LEGO advent calendars slot into our updated list of sets retiring by the end of 2021, which also sees two models pushed back to 2022.

A LEGO Super Mario Expansion Set and a LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz three-pack were both originally scheduled to leave shelves in 2021, but will now remain available into next year. Scroll down to their respective theme lists for more details, then reshuffle your LEGO buying priorities accordingly.

Those changes point to the ongoing flexibility of this list, so keep an eye on Brick Fanatics every month for the latest word on the next batch of LEGO sets due to retire. For the moment, here’s a theme-by-theme breakdown of every single LEGO set we’ll be saying sayonara to before the year’s out.

Some of these products could easily see generous discounts across LEGO VIP Weekend, Black Friday and Cyber Monday next month, but if you’re really keen on any of them, it might be wiser to grab them just in case they sell out before then.

There’s little to no change in the retiring list of sets for LEGO Star Wars in December 2021, with the only addition being 75307 Star Wars Advent Calendar. Make sure you get the seasonal set before the year is through for the exclusive Mandalorian minifigures.

Otherwise, one of the first sets in the LEGO Helmet Collection, 75276 Stormtrooper Helmet, will retire by December 2021 alongside the two Star Wars Brick Sketches.

31200 Star Wars The Sith 40431 BB-8 40391 First Order Stormtrooper 75249 Resistance Y-Wing Starfighter 75251 Darth Vader’s Castle 75254 AT-ST Raider 75256 Kylo Ren’s Shuttle 75267 Mandalorian Battle Pack 75270 Obi-Wan’s Hut 75271 Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder 75273 Poe Dameron’s X-wing Fighter 75274 TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet 75275 A-wing Starfighter 75276 Stormtrooper Helmet 75281 Anakin’s Jedi Interceptor 75284 Knights of Ren Transport Ship 75286 General Grievous’s Starfighter 75291 Death Star Final Duel 75293 Resistance I-TS Transport 75307 Star Wars Advent Calendar

Still retiring by the end of December is 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay, as the Captain and crew of the Black Seas Barracuda sail into the horizon one more time. Two other LEGO Ideas models will be leaving the official online store with the re-released 92177 Ship in a Bottle and 21320 Dinosaur Fossils each offering unique building experiences.

From sets based on movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to downscaled LEGO Helmet recreations, LEGO Marvel has no changes from September with the same 20 models all due to retire by December.

The exclusive Ghost Rider minifigure in 76173 Spider-Man and Ghost Rider vs. Carnage won’t be available past the end of the year – at least not alongside his signature fiery vehicle.

31199 Marvel Studios Iron Man 76125 Iron Man Hall of Armor 76168 Captain America Mech Armor 76169 Thor Mech Armor 76170 Iron Man vs. Thanos 76171 Miles Morales Mech Armor 76172 Spider-Man and Sandman Showdown 76173 Spider-Man and Ghost Rider vs. Carnage 76174 Spider-Man’s Monster Truck vs. Mysterio 76140 Iron Man Mech 76146 Spider-Man Mech 76151 Venomosaurus Ambush 76152 Avengers Wrath of Loki 76153 Avengers Helicarrier 76162 Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase 76163 Venom Crawler 76164 Iron Man Hulkbuster versus A.I.M. Whisk yourself away to a world of witches and wizards as a few new LEGO Harry Potter sets are now scheduled for retirement by the end of the year. Joining the list is 75957 The Knight Bus, featuring exclusive minifigures, a three-tiered vehicle and a detailed interior that even includes the shrunken head.

40419 Hogwarts Students Accessory Set 40500 Wizarding World Minifigure Accessory Set 75947 Hagrid’s Hut: Buckbeak’s Rescue 75953 Hogwarts Whomping Willow 75957 The Knight Bus 75966 Hogwarts Room of Requirement 75967 Forbidden Forest: Umbridge’s Encounter 76384 Hogwarts Moment: Herbology Class 76385 Hogwarts Moment: Charms Class 76390 Harry Potter Advent Calendar

LEGO Technic is another theme with no changes in regards to sets retiring by the end of the year, with the same 14 sets as September. Notable models in that list include 42083 Bugatti Chiron, which will finally be leaving the official online store after its debut in 2018.

42083 Bugatti Chiron 42090 Getaway Truck 42095 Remote Control Stunt Racer 42099 4X4 X-treme Off-Roader 42100 Liebherr R 9800 Excavator 42102 Mini CLAAS XERION 42103 Dragster 42105 Catamaran 42106 Stunt Show Truck & Bike 42107 Ducati Panigale V4 R  42108 Mobile Crane 42109 App-Controlled Top Gear Rally Car  42112 Concrete Mixer Truck 42116 Skid Steer Loader

The renamed LEGO Creator Expert or LEGO for Adults theme hasn’t seen any newly-retiring sets added to the line-up in September. Anyone who has yet to grab any of the larger sets listed below, including the function-filled 10261 Roller Coaster, will want to do so before December 2021.

10258 London Bus 10261 Roller Coaster 10262 James Bond Aston Martin DB5  10264 Corner Garage 10267 Gingerbread House 10269 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy 10277 Crocodile Locomotive

A selection of five LEGO Architecture models are still scheduled for retirement by December, including two of the theme’s skyline builds. The huge 21046 Empire State Building is among the retiring range, with a recreation of the iconic skyscraper not available for purchase for much longer.

21043 San Francisco 21045 Trafalgar Square 21046 Empire State Building 21052 Dubai 21055 Burj Khalifa

Jump up, kick back, whip around and spin to LEGO.com before December if you’ve been looking to buy any of the following NINJAGO sets. The full collection of the Epic Battle Sets won’t be available past the end of the year, making their four exclusive ninja minifigures a lot harder to find.

40374 Golden Zane MF Acc. Set 71701 Kai’s Fire Dragon 71703 Storm Fighter Battle 71704 Kai Fighter 71705 Destiny’s Bounty 71709 Jay and Lloyd’s Velocity Racers 71719 Zane’s Mino Creature 71720 Fire Stone Mech 71721 Skull Sorcerer’s Dragon 71722 Skull Sorcerer’s Dungeons 71730 Epic Battle Set – Kai vs. Skulkin 71731 Epic Battle Set – Zane vs. Nindroid 71732 Epic Battle Set – Jay vs. Serpentine 71733 Epic Battle Set – Cole vs. Ghost Warrior

LEGO DC Super Heroes is light on changes in October, with no new sets scheduled for retirement compared to last month. That means that the same range of nine DC and Batman builds is leaving the official online store before the end of 2021, including the massive 76139 1989 Batmobile and its three minifigures.

10919 Batcave 40386 Batman 40428 The Joker 40453 Batman vs. The Penguin & Harley Quinn 76139 1989 Batmobile 76157 Wonder Woman vs Cheetah 76158 Batboat The Penguin Pursuit! 76159 Joker’s Trike Chase 76160 Mobile Bat Base

There’s just one change for LEGO Super Mario this month: 71367 Mario’s House & Yoshi Expansion Set will now retire by July 2022 rather than December 2021, so you’ve got an extra six months to grab one of the smaller video game expansions.

The only way to get the larger of the brick-built Bowser figures in 71369 Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set will still be retiring this year, though, as well as two of the Power-Up Packs, for those collecting the alternate costumes for Mario.

71362 Guarded Fortress Expansion Set 71363 Desert Pokey Expansion Set 71365 Piranha Plant Power Slide Expansion Set 71368 Toad’s Treasure Hunt Expansion Set 71369 Bowser’s Castle Boss Battle Expansion Set 71370 Fire Mario Power-Up Pack 71372 Cat Mario Power-Up Pack 71376 Thwomp Drop Expansion Set 71377 King Boo and the Haunted Yard Expansion Set 71380 Master Your Adventure Maker Set 71381 Chain Chomp Jungle Encounter 71382 Piranha Plant Puzzling Challenge 71383 Wiggler’s Poison Swamp 71384 Penguin Mario Power-Up Pack 71385 Tanooki Mario Power-Up Pack 71394 Character Packs – Series 3

LEGO Creator collectors will need to act quickly for these eight sets, as a variety of unique models won’t be available for much longer. Outer-space explorers can look to 31107 Space Rover Explorer for a build beyond the stars, with models representing everything you need to discover an alien world and life-form, as well as two other build options – just like every set in the 3-in-1 theme.

31093 Riverside Houseboat 31097 Townhouse Pet Shop & Café 31099 Propeller Plane 31101 Monster Truck 31102 Fire Dragon 31104 Monster Burger Truck 31105 Townhouse Toy Store 31107 Space Rover Explorer

Racing away from LEGO.com before the end of 2021 are the same five sets as last month, seeing off another full wave of the theme. Anyone looking for a LEGO Ferrari, Lamborghini, Audi, Nissan or Jaguar on a budget might want to order the below builds before they retire, as the first models to introduce the new eight-stud-wide formula for Speed Champions.

76895 Ferrari F8 Tributo 76896 Nissan GT-R NISMO 76897 1985 Audi Sport Quattro S1 76898 Formula E Panasonic Jaguar Racing GEN2 car & Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY 76899 Lamborghini Urus ST-X & Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO

Few themes can cover such a wealth of content as LEGO Disney, with everything from theme parks to mythical dragons represented in the range.

Unfortunately, some of that Disney magic can’t stay on the official online store forever, as the following models are scheduled to retire by the end of the year. This includes 71044 Disney Train and Station, which could pair well if you already have 71040 The Disney Castle or are planning to buy the new 40478 Mini Disney Castle.

10873 Minnie’s Birthday Party 10922 Ariel’s Undersea Castle 10924 Lightning McQueen’s Race Day 41167 Arendelle Castle Village 43172 Elsa’s Magical Ice Palace 43175 Anna and Elsa’s Storybook Adventures 43176 Ariel’s Storybook Adventures 43177 Belle’s Storybook Adventures 43181 Raya and the Heart Palace 43184 Raya and Sisu Dragon 43185 Boun’s Boat  43186 Bruni the Salamander Buildable Character 43188 Aurora’s Forest Cottage 43191 Ariel’s Celebration Boat 71044 Disney Train and Station

You don’t have much longer to welcome yourself to Jurassic Park, as the huge 75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage is one of five creations in the theme scheduled for extinction.

If the larger model isn’t to your liking, a previous range of dinosaur-centric builds will be retiring soon too, with 75941 Indominus Rex vs. Ankylosaurus offering enough inspiration to start a Jurassic World display.

75936 Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage 75939 Dr. Wu’s Lab: Baby Dinosaurs Breakout 75940 Gallimimus and Pteranodon Breakout 75941 Indominus Rex vs. Ankylosaurus 75942 Velociraptor: Biplane Rescue Mission

Like many other themes, LEGO Monkie Kid’s list of retiring sets for 2021 remains unchanged for September, with 10 of the legendary creations still scheduled to depart LEGO.com.

While Monkie Kid has been disappearing from shelves in stores, the theme continues to be available online. The show is also streaming on Amazon Prime with the first season’s sets still available for a limited time on LEGO.com too.

40472 Monkie Kid’s RC Race 80006 White Dragon Horse Bike 80007 Iron Bull Tank 80009 Pigsy’s Food Truck 80010 Demon Bull King 80011 Red Son’s Inferno Truck 80014 Sandy’s Speedboat 80015 Monkie Kid’s Cloud Roadster 80016 The Flaming Foundry 80018 Monkie Kid’s Cloud Bike

The fourth season of Stranger Things has just received a brand new trailer, while the LEGO Group’s theme continues to feature just one set.

No other models based on the series have been announced, meaning 75810 The Upside Down might be your only chance to get minifigures for the cast before they return in the upcoming instalment.

A huge variety of LEGO CITY sets will be retiring before the end of the year, signalling the end of the road for the following assortment of models.

Newly included in the list is 60303 CITY Advent Calendar, with the seasonal countdown predictably only sticking around for the holidays, making this your only chance to get it.

60139 Mobile Command Center 60214 Burger Bar Fire Rescue 60215 Fire Station 60216 Downtown Fire Brigade 60220 Garbage Truck 60221 Diving Yacht 60226 Mars Research Shuttle 60228 Deep Space Rocket and Launch Control 60229 Rocket Assembly & Transport 60239 Police Patrol Car 60241 Police Dog Unit 60242 Police Highway Arrest 60244 Police Helicopter Transport 60245 Police Monster Truck Heist 60246 Police Station 60247 Forest Fire 60248 Fire Helicopter Response 60249 Street Sweeper 60250 Mail Plane 60251 Monster Truck 60252 Construction Bulldozer 60254 Race Boat Transporter 60256 Racing Cars 60258 Tuning Workshop 60260 Air Race 60261 Central Airport 60263 Ocean Mini-Submarine 60264 Ocean Exploration Submarine 60266 Ocean Exploration Ship 60267 Safari Off-Roader 60270 Police Brick Box 60271 Main Square 60272 Elite Police Boat Transport 60273 Elite Police Driller Chase 60274 Elite Police Lighthouse Capture 60279 Fire Hazard Truck 60285 Sports Car 60286 Beach Rescue ATV 60288 Race Buggy Transporter 60289 Airshow Jet Transporter 60290 Skate Park 60303 CITY Advent Calendar

Bring some stylish, brick-based decoration to your home with the first wave of LEGO Art sets, all up for retirement by December 2021.

The four original mosaics that kicked off the LEGO Art theme will all be leaving us before the end of the year, meaning time is limited should you have a spot in your home for an artistic tribute to Star Wars or the Marvel Cinematic Universe – or even classic elements of pop culture from over the years.

31197 Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe 31198 The Beatles 31199 Marvel Studios Iron Man 31200 Star Wars The Sith

Start the holidays with LEGO Friends’ new advent calendar, which – like all the new calendars for 2021 – will only be sticking around for the next few months. LEGO Friends will also be waving goodbye to plenty of other models by the end of the year, including one of the LEGO Group’s rare brick-built hospitals in 41394 Heartlake City Hospital.

Pets, holidays and a galaxy far, far away: there’s only one theme where those three topics can come into play, with LEGO BrickHeadz providing the perfect playground for statuettes that encompass all kinds of subjects.

A total of 16 BrickHeadz builds are leaving the official online store soon, including one half of the Minions range in 40421 Belle Bottom, Kevin and Bob, and the limited-edition 40490 NINJAGO 10. Collectors of the theme might want to act fast if there’s any missing BrickHeadz on your shelf.

At the same time, 40496 Voldemort, Nagini & Bellatrix will now hang around until 2022, so you’ve got a little more breathing room to grab that one.

40379 Valentine’s Bear 40380 Easter Sheep 40381 Monkey King 40383 Wedding Bride 40384 Wedding Groom 40421 Belle Bottom, Kevin & Bob 40422 Frankenstein 40425 Nutcracker 40436 Lucky Cat 40440 German Shepherd 40479 Dalmatian 40481 Cockatiel 40482 Hamster 40492 La Catrina 40490 NINJAGO 10 75317 The Mandalorian & The Child

DOT your world with these retiring LEGO sets, allowing for customisable construction for all ages. From secret boxes to flashy LEGO bracelets, the DOTS theme not only offers colourful arts and crafts kits for creative kids and adults, but also an inexpensive way to gather tiles and unique designs printed on bricks, such as in 41921 Extra DOTS Series 3.

41906 Pineapple Pencil Holder 41907 Desk Organizer 41909 Mermaid Vibes Bracelets 41910 Ice Cream Besties Bracelets 41913 Bracelet Mega Pack 41914 Creative Picture Frames 41915 Jewelry Box 41918 Adventure Bracelets 41921 Extra DOTS – Series 3 41922 Cool Cactus Bracelet 41923 Monster Bracelet 41924 Secret Holder 41925 Secret Boxes 41927 Bag Tag Dog 41928 Bag Tag Narwhal 41929 Bag Tag Leopard 41930 Bag Tag Panda 41931 Extra DOTS – Series 4 41932 Extra DOTS – Series 5 41933 Music Bracelet 41934 Starlight Bracelets 41939 Bag Tag Dragon 41940 Bag Tag Unicorn

LEGO Minecraft continues to recreate the best-selling video game, but will be waving goodbye to some of its sets before 2022 arrives. These include the cheapest way to get the fearsome Ender Dragon in 21151 The End Battle, and the only set to feature the parrot, dolphin and turtle figures in 21152 The Pirate Ship Adventure.

21151 The End Battle 21152 The Pirate Ship Adventure 21154 The Blaze Bridge 21155 The Creeper Mine 21158 The Panda Nursery 21159 The Pillager Outpost 21162 The Taiga Adventure 21163 The Redstone Battle

Still scheduled to retire before the end of the year is 75549 Unstoppable Bike Chase, as the only LEGO Minions set to do so before the corresponding film has been released.

Not to worry, though, as five other creations will still be available when the movie releases – but anyone hoping to get the Gru minifigure might want to make a beeline for the bike chase, unless you plan on purchasing 40511 Minions Kung Fu Training.
