Today is the last day for people to pick up items purchased at last week’s Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. auction, though auction house officials said Thursday that most of the items already have been picked up at the Puunene Mill.
“But there are always a few ‘stragglers’ and larger purchasers that take/need some additional time,” said Mark Weitz, GA Global Partners co-managing partner, in an email.
Pickup hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those with questions should view the Global Partners website at gaauction.com.
Hundreds of items were sold at last week’s two-day auction held live online and at the Maui Beach Hotel’s Elleair Rainbow Ballroom in Kahului. Items included John Deere Gators, all-terrain vehicles that sold quickly and to bids as high as $9,500; Toyota Tacoma trucks; bulldozers; loaders and even the iconic Tournahaulers, which hauled cane stalks to the mill.
On Wednesday, there still was a row of Cat off-road trucks at the plantation site as well as other heavy equipment.

HC&S did not have a final sales total from the auction, said Darren Pai, spokesman for Alexander & Baldwin, parent company of HC&S, on Thursday. However, an estimate from totaling winning bids indicated that at least $4.5 million in equipment and vehicles were sold.
“We were pleased with the turnout at the auction. We saw a broad range of bidders and are pleased that they found use for the equipment in their businesses,” Pai said in an email.
He added there are still some unsold items at the mill, mainly used automotive parts and salvaged trucks.
HC&S also is actively looking for a buyer for the mill, officials have said. Perry Videx LLC, a company with experience in selling sugar mills and used equipment and machinery, is working with HC&S on finding a buyer.
Gregg Epstein, president of the company, has said that if the mill cannot be sold whole, it could be sold in large sections, including the power generation plant.
The negotiations could last into April or May, he said.
HC&S shut down its sugar operations in December. It is now turning to diversified agriculture for its 36,000 acres of former sugar cane fields.
